PDO THREADS: FLORIDA’S NON-SURGICAL FACELIFT

Have you been considering a facelift but can’t seem to justify getting surgery? Patients are always curious to learn about new, innovative ways to lift and tighten the face and diminish wrinkles... So naturally, we need to discuss: PDO Threads.

PDO Threads are becoming increasingly popular and have become known as the “Non-Surgical Facelift.” If you’re interested in the results of a facelift, without the surgery and anesthesia, read on. We’re explaining PDO Threads, how they work, and answering all of your questions.

WHAT ARE PDO THREADS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?

Yes, they are in fact threads. “PDO” stands for Polydioxanone and are biodegradable, colorless polyester sutures that have been used in surgeries since the 1980s. PDO Threads are unique because the body can safely absorb them and during this process, it promotes collagen production. Win-win!

How do they work? PDO Thread sutures are preloaded into a needle and then strategically injected under the skin in an upward direction. Threads have microscopic barbs that attach to the skin and pull it upward. It’s one of the newest aesthetic treatments available and being minimally invasive, PDO Threads are a great substitute for facelift-looking results.

THE BENEFITS OF A PDO NON-SURGICAL LIFT

Let’s run down the many benefits of considering this treatment. PDO Threads:

✨ Smooth the appearance of aging skin

✨ Create a softer and more even skin texture

✨ Visibly tighten and lift the skin

✨ Promote collagen production for months

✨ Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

✨ Are more effective to smooth deeper wrinkles than neurotoxins

✨ Are minimally invasive and don’t require downtime

✨ Offer long-lasting results: 6-9 months (twice that of Botox!)

SHOULD I GET BOTOX OR THREADS?

Many of our clients ask us this question. What’s better, Botox or PDO Threads? It depends on your skin and the results you’re looking for. Both PDO Threads and Botox (neurotoxins) are great solutions for reducing the signs of aging, but they have different benefits.

Botox is ideal for fine lines and wrinkles or preventative measures. Botox lasts 3-4 months, is non-invasive, and can even help treat migraines or TMJ. With a wide range of uses, Botox is effective if you’re looking to age more gracefully.

PDO Threads are more suitable for those with deeper wrinkles or patients who want a “lift.” They last 6-9 months (twice as long as Botox!) and help encourage collagen production, resulting in a youthful glow. They’re a little more invasive than Botox since we’re inserting a physical product, not a liquid, but they don’t require any downtime.

During a consultation, we’ll analyze your skin and discuss your beauty goals to ensure you’re getting the best treatments for you.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE GETTING PDO THREADS

Now that you know more about PDO Threads and their benefits, let’s cover a few last-minute items to consider.

First, be sure to find an experienced injector with ample experience (like The Blonde Injector!). Since PDO Threads are a newer treatment and a more invasive procedure, you risk getting poor results if you get them with someone new to aesthetic medicine.

If you’re used to getting Botox, note that a PDO Thread appointment takes longer. We must first numb the face (15-20 minutes), so there’s a bit of wait time. Don’t schedule PDO Threads on a day you’re in a hurry!

PDO Threads are also more invasive than Botox. While they don’t require downtime, you may experience more swelling and redness. It’s nothing some ice and Netflix won’t fix! We just want to prepare your expectations.
